MCDN (Mini Content Delivery Network) is a geographically distributed network that stores content as close as possible to end clients and transmits it along the shortest route. Caching servers store data from the source server on the first request. And further data is no longer sent to the source but is processed on the caching node closest to the client.
When using a MCDN, a user from the florida region does not wait for data from the original server but is redirected to the nearest caching server. This way, data processing takes less time and site pages load faster.
Besides, MCDN evenly distributes the load throughout the network. And thus, it can process huge amounts of data. In this case, the servers back up each other. And if a failure occurs, the clients will be redirected to running nodes. This makes your site more fault-tolerant.
